  1. Hi

My Derek Marchant (1936-2012) father was from Pratts Bottom, I believe he lived in 5 Hookwood Road with his parents Sydney and Ellen (these died 1965/66) and sister Eileen (who used to clean the school in the early 80’s) there was also another sister Doreen who died when she was four and I believe she is buried in the local cemetery (would that be pratts bottom or chelsfield?) under quite a large headstone in the shape of a cross. My grandparents are also buried there alongside the church. Ellen’s brother Bill (well William) lived in one of the wooden cladded cottages on rushmore hill just opposite hookwood road (looking at recent photos on the web they may not be there) and was good friends with Mrs Cutbush who lived in the same row of cottages. Sorry if this sounds a bit vague Uncle Bill died in 1982 and my last visit to the area would have been 1987 before my family moved to North Wales. I don’t think I have been back there since, now I live in Australia. Can you shed any more light on the family as it seems there was a lot of the family there at on stage. The other connection was Connie (nee Marchant) and Wallace Mcpherson had a son Donald who never married, they lived in Flintstone cottages up the top of the hill on the left as you came into pratts bottom and kept his Anderson Shelter buried in his back yard and used it as a garden shed.

  2. I was wondering if you are a village fete/fair this year? If so, when and is anyone allowed to have a stall? Is there someone I should contact about this?

  3. Does anyone remember the Smith family in Pratts Bottom in the 60s I believe? Fred and Mary Smith – their children are Angela and Anthony.

  4. Why not have a village calendar? Lots of info about the past but not the future!

We have a Model Railway Society Show on 13th and 14th January at PBVH. All welcome 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Lots of layouts and a shop and refreshments.

Please confirm when the next Village Fete is.

    • Hi Paul, I’ve put this on the website. As for a calendar, I can only publish events that I have been notfied about! Organisers please note!
I don’t know when the village fete is, unless it’s in the Village newsletter. It’s usually in May.

  5. Hello, We used to live in Pratts Bottom at 26 Turnpike Drive from 1958 to 1970 when we moved to Warminster, Wiltshire. My name is Andrea Crowe or was until I married.
Is there anyone in Pratts Bottom who may remember Angela Hewitt who used to live in the large house on the left as you came off the A21 heading towards Turnpike Drive. I have tried searching for her on all social media, but so far no luck. Also anyone else out there who might remember us, the Crowe family from Turnpike Drive.
If anyone could share any information it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.
